Tough Cookie

We had such a fun weekend together. Friday we went to Wahoos with the Kryzcki family and then roasted smore's in their backyard. The boys played so well together and us adults enjoyed our time sitting around the fire. We're so glad to be at this stage finally where the kids entertain themselves and we can actually hold a conversation and catch up on each other's lives.

Saturday morning Keegan came downstairs into the garage where I do my quiet time, and the first thing he asked was "how long until my game?" He couldn't wait for his last T-ball game but unfortunately he'd have to wait quite awhile, since it wasn't until 5pm that evening. It was so cute to see how excited he was for the game.

But of course we couldn't just sit around the house and wait for gametime, so where do you suppose the Shone family went on a Saturday? To the baseball fields of course! We watched any game playing! We caught a little of the AA game, Tyler Krzycki's game, and the Tournament of Champions game at another park. Yes, we actually drove to another park to watch another game. Then believe it or not, after Keegan's game and dinner with some teammates, Scott considered going to watch another game playing that night. I was done with games by that point and told him he'd have to drop me at home. He decided against the game and came home too.

So, the reason why I gave this post the title "Tough Cookie" is because when Keegan was warming up before his game, he got clocked in the nose/upper lip with a ball. It gave him a nosebleed (Keegan gets those alot, so I knew it wasn't the site of blood that was making him cry so much). I'm sure it hurt pretty good. He didn't want to play in the game and was asking me to take him home. I kept telling him to give it a few minutes and then see if he wanted to play. He cried and cried and finally being the sympathetic, loving parents we are, we told Keegan to stop crying and shake it off. He wasn't about to be forced into playing but we both knew that the longer he cried, the longer it would take for him to get in the game. So, he sat with me for a few minutes and then by the time it was his turn to bat, he decided he could play. I was so proud of him. There are a lot of 5 year old boys who would not have recovered from that, but Keegan deep down didn't want to miss his last game. He loves playing too much.

He had a great game. The coaches decided since it was the last game of the season, they would let the kids do coach pitch if they wanted. After so many tries they would then bring out the t to hit off. Keegan had a hit everytime. He hit one all the way to the back fence. While playing first base, he made some great catches too. Great way to finish the season.

Then, today at our end of the season T-ball party, Keegan bonked heads with someone in the bounce house and knocked his front tooth pretty good. It was bleeding and he was crying and crying until I got him to think about how this might help him lose his first tooth. After that he wanted to go look in the mirror and see it wiggle. Thank goodness for distractions! A bunch of his T-ball friends have been losing their teeth and Keegan is getting excited to be a part of that group. We'll see if it happens.
Such an incredibly fun weekend with my family!
