I really believe that. Today was a great example of this. Scott had today off from work and we planned to take the kids to the Easter Eggstravaganza at the park that's put on by Compass church every year. At the last minute I thought to call Mandy and see if she was taking Ian, since I knew the other two were in school. Our boys had today off of school for Good Friday, but the public schools didn't. Mandy said she couldn't go because it was the only time she had to run errands before Easter. So, I offered to take Ian with us since I knew the boys would love the time together with their friend. Perfect. The boys get to enjoy the fun egg hunt with their friend and Mandy offers to pick up some items for me at Costco, so I won't have to make a 3rd trip there this week. Total teamwork and friendship.
We arrive at the event and the boys are really excited to play in one of the bounce houses before their egg hunt starts. What do you know, Lisa Voyen is in front of us in line with her daughter, Katie and our friend Julie's girls, Olivia and Juliana. How awesome! I haven't seen Lisa since last fall at a dinner fundraiser and absolutely love her. So, we get time to chat together and then decide to divide and conquer for the egg hunts. Lisa and I take the smaller ones to the 3-4 year old hunt, while Scott takes Keegan, Tanner, and Olivia to the bigger egg hunt.
Julie in the meantime, finally arrives just as the egg hunt starts for Juliana. She had given up on trying to find a parking spot after circling for 20 minutes and drove home. She had Darren drive her back and drop her off. And she arrived in the nick of time because as the egg hunt started, Juliana tripped on the ribbon surrounding the field as everyone else took off running to gather eggs. She started crying and mom was right there to scoop her up. Those are time where you're thankful to be there for your kids.
Ian did a great job of gathering eggs and when his egg hunt was over, we went to the next field to watch Keegan and Tanner and Olivia. So much fun.
Later today we had Keegan's baseball game and Jason and Kana came with the kids to watch. They were dropping off Caleb and Austin with us to spend the night, but our boys didn't know this. I kept it from them as a surprise. They were so excited to be together. We went to pizza after the game at Toni Pepperoni's and each kid spent more than enough quarters in all the video and prize machines. They had fun chomping on their gumballs, hitting their balloons in the air, and comparing toys from the machines. And the top it off, we mentioned to the Balducci family on our way out of the baseball field, we were headed to Toni Pepperoni's and they joined us. We'd tried to schedule dinner together a few times but our schedules got in the way. This time an impromptu pizza dinner was what worked. Fun times with friends. Can't put a price on that.
