Tanner had his first playdate yesterday with his own friend at our house. Not a friend he shares with Keegan, but a friend from his own class last year. Tyler Brooks and Tanner were good buddies in class last year. We had a few playdates at the park with his mom throughout the year but had never had him over to our house.
Tyler started at a different school this year, so Tanner and him didn't see each other anymore at school. During soccer season they would see each other on the other field each Saturday. We would always talk about setting up another playdate, but as usual, life would get busy and nothing would happen.
Finally, I picked up the phone yesterday and called his mom to see if he could come over. She was so excited and so was I, so our playdate was scheduled. When I told Tanner his friend Tyler was coming to play at his house, he was SO excited!
Tyler was coming over at 1:30pm and we had to run to Costco beforehand. Tanner couldn't get me out of Costco fast enough. He kept asking me, "is that it? Are we done? Ready to go home?" He was so afraid we'd miss Tyler. Once we got home we still had about 20 minutes to wait. Tanner kept asking me how many more minutes until Tyler gets here. Finally, when I said he would be here any minute, Tanner wanted to wait outside for him. So, we sat on the sidewalk in anticipation of Tyler arriving. Tanner was so cute. He was beside himself in excitement. He kept talking about how Tyler might be coming from this way or that way. It was fun to watch him be so excited to have his own friend over to play. Tyler arrived and they had a blast together. The playdate was too short, but I know we'll have many more in the future. A great friendship is growing.
