So, are you classified as bad parents if you and two of your closest friends stand around for an hour hysterically laughing at the sight of your 4 boys absolutely pummelling each other with boxing gloves? Caleb and Austin were over when they discovered Keegan and Tanner's boxing gloves. Yes, the same boxing gloves that were on the top of my list as "worst presents ever given". Grandma and Grandpa, I now apologize for those evil thoughts I had when they opened those things because the entertainment we had on Sunday night was worth every bit of it. Now, the worst gift award is solely owned by the Faulk family's friend that gave their kids a pet frog for their birthday. Honestly, what were those people thinking?
Anyway, Round 1 got off to a good start. Keegan "Giggles" Shone vs. Caleb "The Titan" Faulk. A little unorthodox with their styles, Caleb and Keegan came out swinging with Caleb using his "rope a dope" to fend off Keegan's "2-handed Tiger clawing". Caleb connecting with a couple big rights that he would load up while rope-a-doping definitely gave him the victory. Round 2 pitted Austin "Thunderstruck" Faulk against Tanner "the Raging Bull" Shone. Austin was caught off guard in the smiling face by the Raging Bull's immediate unleashing of fury all over the place. Us, in the peanut gallery, shouted things like "If you don't be careful, I will send my little brother after you" as we were surprised by the growling face and the flury of rights and lefts delivered by T. After witnessing the unanimous Round 2 victor,y we quickly realized that Tanner was actually the best hope the little people had to take down "The Titan".
So, we immediately shouted out, "T vs. Caleb!" in probably the same fashion those sickos do in underground dog fights. Tanner was reluctant to stand toe to toe with Caleb as the height and reach were clearly not in his favor. After a few words of encouragement from the peanut gallery, though, he strapped the gloves back on and applied the growling face (a la Kobe Bryant's dagger shot look from the playoffs). As the bell rang, the Raging Bull came out firing with no fear as if fighting a child 2 years younger than him. In this instance, however, he was the one that was actually 2 years younger. After getting backed up in the corner by the fury, The Titan soon realized that this was not the giggling tiger clawing he was accustomed to. The Titan came back to demonstrate that he was the dominator in this event, but not without a very close match.
The boys were having so much fun and to our amazement there were no tears, yet, so we let them continue. When it was all said and done, the boys each went about 5 rounds and absolutely loved it. Tears did end up coming down all faces, except for the Titan's, who did connect a few times with the nights most powerful right hook. In the bad parents' defense, most tears were from "tireness" rather than "punches". We tried to hold off the brother v. brother battles, but we were unable to. This prompted Team Sicko to shout words of encouragement such as "That guy over there broke your legos. Go get him" and "Don't let him do that to you".
We learned a lot about our kids' abilities to fight on Sunday night, and we learned that the rankings for fight Night 2 are:
1. Caleb "The Titan" Faulk
2. Tanner "The Raging Bull" Shone
3. Keegan "Giggles" Shone
4. Austin "Thunderstruck" Faulk
